TARKWA BAY Event

Tarkwa Bay: A sheltered beach within the harbour breakwater. It is easily accessible by boat from Tarzan Jetty at Maroko (N1000 per person) or under Falomo bridge on Victoria Island. The beach is a pleasant outing and has safe bathing even for children. Deck chairs are available for hire and a variety of fruits (pineapples, coconuts, oranges and so on) to buy. Make sure you book your return time with the boat driver.

Tarkwa is a man made bay and beach created during the formation of the Lagos harbour. The beach was shaped by the moles used to form the inlet to the harbour and covered with sand dredged from the bottom of the channel. As a result the water is a lot calmer than the exposed Atlantic coastline elsewhere around Lagos. The fine sand is also much more comfortable to walk and lie on than the coarse/sharp sand of the other beaches. With its own resident community, most of whom make their living from the tourists who visit the beach, this is the only “maintained” beach in Lagos with the beach hands cleaning up the garbage every weekend before the influx of tourists. Also given the fact that it is cut off from the main habitations of Lagos by water and is therefore only accessible by boat, this makes it a beach for real beach bums and sun worshippers, in contrast to the other “bums and worshippers” that flock to the Bar Beach.

It is also possible to surf in a corner of Tarkwa Bay and other water sports such as Jet Skiing and Water Skiing are fairly common, although don’t expect to find equipment there to rent! Make friends with the local nautical elites so you can use their water sports equipment.

Information About VPN Phone

Good day,

How is IT going, hope most of us are preparing to round off and get prepared for the new session.

This is a progress report on the update of the VPN (Phone) Project for Trailblazers which include all the necessary information you need to know about it, mostly specified is the area of the call tariff within the VPN group and with other networks including international calls

Here are the details on how to get the phone

· Multi – Links phone is N1,750 or N21,000 (that have the ability of internet connectivity)

· There is always a monthly charge (Access charge ) of N1000 for the people using the VPN

· The call tariff for the VPN still remains N0 for the people within the group.

BENEFIT

The main reason for the VPN phone is to allow members of the class to have easy access to each other through the phone WITHOUT PAYING ANY AMOUNT for any period of time apart from the monthly charges.

The project is looking at the possibilities of bridging the communication gap between class members and the lecturers. This communication gadget will afford members to share important information at anytime of the day without checking the credit on the phone.

Another benefit that the class or department can get from the project, is the cordial relationship that will be established with MULTI-LINKS TELEKOM. This relationship will help foster other project that might be carried out by the class or department either during the departmental week or class trip.

The benefit of this service remains timeless as our days in OAU gets to a ‘periodic end’

IMPLEMENTATION

The VPN project should be implemented before or immediately after resumption. Your responses remain the most important aspect of this project. Necessary contact as already been made with the Multi-Link Telekom authorizes and they are ready to back us up with the project and any other project in the future.

Remember that the success of this project depend solemnly on YOU and I. With the successful implementation of this project for the class, we as a pacesetter can launch the same project for the entire department or other department that are interested.

From the information gathered from MULTI-LINK TELEKOM, the minimum number of user per group is twenty (20) members. But it will be right if every member of the class benefit from this opportunity.

Implementation date is 17th to 30th November , 2008

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Provision for various account numbers from two to three different banks will be made available before the end of this week. So as enable easy access of cash deposit.

You can be rest assured that at exactly one week after the collection of the money, your phone will be sent to you. Necessary arrangement will be made for logistic for you to get the phone.

Remember as we run the ‘last lap’ of this academic sojourn, the amount of information that we can gather and what medium used remain one of the vital resources that can fine tune our future. And don’t forget “our stories might be singular but our destinies are shared”.

Thank you and God bless.
